More new classrooms for Taranaki schools
The Government is investing $800,000 to build a new classroom here at West End School and one at Oakura School, says local MP Jonathan Young.
“These local schools have growing rolls and need extra capacity to accommodate them,” Mr Young said.
“The National-led Government is continually demonstrating its commitment to ensuring our local kids have the infrastructure they need to support their learning.
“I’m delighted to be here today at West End School to share in their excitement over a new classroom. And it wasn’t long ago that Minister Kaye announced two new classrooms at Mangorei School and four new classrooms at Te Pi'ipi'inga Kakano Mai Rangiatea – worth $2.2 million together.
“Today’s announcement is part of a second round of investments in new classrooms from Budget 2016, which provides $882.5 million for school property. This includes 480 new high-tech capable classrooms to meet roll growth.
“National is focused on ensuring New Zealand schools are fit for the future because we know the physical environment our kids learn in is important.
“It’s why we’re providing extra capacity where it’s needed, and creating modern, innovative learning environments that support quality teaching and help students achieve to the best of their potential,” Mr Young said.
